| Manually updating exchange rates does not override Price Points. The Price Points model applies its own rounding, tax, and localization rules. To prevent currency arbitrage, remove the exploited currency from your Currency Localization settings. |
Why manual rate changes don't work
Appcharge uses a Price Points model for currency localization. When a price point is calculated, the platform applies automatic currency conversion, local tax inclusion, and rounding rules. The manual exchange rate you enter updates the baseline conversion, but the final displayed price goes through the Price Points calculation system and may not reflect your exact change.
The actual solution: Currency Localization
To prevent players from switching to a lower-rate currency (e.g. Turkish Lira), go to the Pricing tab in your Publisher Dashboard, open Currency Localization settings, and uncheck the currency you want to restrict. Players using an unchecked currency will see and pay in USD instead.
Effect of unchecking a currency
- Players in countries using that currency see USD prices
- They pay in USD, eliminating the exchange rate arbitrage
- Other currencies you leave checked continue to use Price Points localization
Unchecking a currency affects all players in that currency region, not just those attempting arbitrage. Consider the impact on your legitimate player base in that market.
